Maker OS · Pricing with confidence for 3D-printing and laser makers

About the studio

Independent design,
made thoughtfully.

Layer & Light began with a fascination for turning an idea into something useful, tangible and unmistakably its own.

The Layer & Light approach

Designed with imagination.
Crafted with precision.

We are an independent UK studio working across original art, 3D-printed objects and practical digital tools.

Our physical objects move from first idea through modelling, prototyping and testing before being produced in small batches or made to order. Wall-art collections are developed as complete visual stories, then offered as digital files and specialist-produced fine-art prints.

Maker OS grew from the same instinct: make something useful, remove unnecessary friction and present it clearly.

Different materials and processes, held together by one point of view — purposeful form, restrained colour and attention to the details people actually notice.

How we work

From first idea
to finished piece.

A simple process built around testing, honest materials and the small decisions that make an object better to live with.

  1. 01

    Develop

Reduce the idea to its useful purpose, proportion and essential character.

  2. 02

    Prototype

Check fit, stability, finish and the practical details before release.

  3. 03

    Make

Produce carefully, in small batches or with a trusted specialist partner.

  4. 04

    Present

Use clear descriptions, considered imagery and honest customer support.

The studio standard

What we value.

The same principles apply whether the result is a poster, a headphone stand or a business workbook.

01 · Originality

A point of view

We develop work with its own character instead of simply adding more noise to a crowded marketplace.

02 · Usefulness

Purpose first

Even the most decorative object should earn its place through function, atmosphere or genuine delight.

03 · Clarity

Nothing hidden

Materials, formats, fulfilment and limitations are explained plainly so buyers know what to expect.
